Excellent program. You have the chance to review bios of the potential teachers, which helps gives you a good feel for their style, and then get matched with someone specifically suited to your interests, skill level, goals, location, and schedule (I've had a great experience working with Vicky Ho for both piano and voice). The weekly lessons are a good incentive to keep up with your practice, but there's also a lot of flexibility if you need to work around specific scheduling issues. Overall, extremely convenient, and high-quality instruction that's also a lot of fun. It's a little pricey, but definitely worth it if you're serious about improving your skills or learning something new.read more

Our boys (7 and 9 yo) love their teacher Armando! Our oldest son had been learning piano with a different teacher (not from LIYH) and he really didn't enjoy it at all. It was a constant struggle for them to practice and the lessons themselves were very boring. But now that we are with Armando, they are loving the piano. It is no longer a chore for them to practice piano. Armando makes lessons very fun and they boys are progressing very well. I can't recommend him and LIYH enough!read more

I was relieved at how easy and quick it was to replace our previous instructor, especially with my very specific and expansive requirements (5 kids at differing levels, plus some theory instruction for all 5). Finding new instructors and tutors for anything is always nerve-wracking, so thank you for facilitating this. Neil’s reputation as an instrumentalist preceded his arrival for the first lesson, and the kids really like him and want to practice outside of their lesson times because of that.read more

We've been with Lessons in Your Home for over 4 years now, and we have been consistently impressed with the caliber of teachers as well as the responsive, friendly, efficient service when dealing with billing or scheduling questions. Both of my daughters began working with Evan Meier, who gave them an excellent foundation in piano playing and music theory and who imparted great skill through his calm, depthful approach to instruction. We are now lucky to be working with Armando Bayolo, who is a tremendous match for my older daughter (11 yrs), using humor and high energy combined with masterful skill to encourage her in developing her own expertise and a clearer sense of her own preferences and strengths in musical study.read more

My son is a beginner at violin and Joseph has been highly successful teaching him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is warm, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly he is patient, and has given my son the confidence to practice on his own. I highly recommend LIYM as well as Joseph and look forward to a time where they can practice together in person.read more

I am 71 years young and recently started classical guitar lessons with my instructor Josh Cergas, on line. I am enjoying first-class professional instruction. I enjoy learning how to read music, and practice at least an hour a day. Josh and I have become a team, he is the coachand I am the neophyte. It's been a blessing making music. I recommend Lessons In Your Home and Josh highly.read more

This is a great company! They are quick to respond to my emails and are very accommodating. They even let me change the lesson time the day before the lesson. They make it easy. My daughters love their piano lessons and their teacher is amazing. They are already learning Christmas songs and they’ve only had a few lessons. I’d recommend this company to anyone. We have been very satisfied with our experience with LIYH. My kids were going to a music school previously, but the schedule became too hectic. I contacted two companies in the DC area for home lessons. Heather from LIYH surprised with her promptness and worked with me in every way to get lessons and teachers on a day and time that worked perfectly for my children. She sent me bios on the teachers. Ms Gail Freeman has been teaching my son piano and he has really enjoyed working with her. She has the quality of 'soft resoluteness' that works perfectly for kids. She is very enthusiastic and goes above and beyond in giving my son an excellent lesson.read more
