About Yuting Zhang
Yuting Zhang is a musician and educator based out of Orlando, FL. He is currently in his last year of study for his Bachelor degree of Music Education at the University of Central Florida. His life goal is to be a well rounded elementary school music teacher who can inspire young students with the music they will learn to achieve greatness in life. His primary instrument is voice with piano being his secondary instrument.
Born and raised in China until he was sixteen years old and having taken piano lessons from age five to twelve, he passed level nine out of ten of the National Piano Level Assessment in China before middle school. Although he had to stop taking lessons due to the incredible amount of school work that was in Chinese public schools, at age sixteen, when he immigrated to the United States, he rediscovered his passion for music. Moving across half of the Earth to another country was hard, especially due to the language barrier, but music is universal. Immediately he joined all of the ensembles he could sign up for, and used music as a helping tool to smooth out the difficult transitions of leaving one's family and friends behind to move to a foreign land. With the help of music, he made new friends and created a new life that he loves to live.
At the end of high school, through his experience in choir, he found a new passion for singing. When it was time to go to college, he decided to study music with voice being his primary instrument. He received his associate degree in voice and piano performance, with a minor in theatre performance at Rend Lake College located in rural Illinois, where he was the leads for several musical productions, as well as the tenor section leader for chorus. After he acquired his associate degree, he transferred to University of Central Florida where he studied voice under the instruction of Thomas Potter. He was a part of the University Chorus and Chamber Singers at UCF who performed with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in various concerts. He was also a part of the Opera Work Shop, where he was the lead male actor/singer for their 2019 spring Opera.
He started teaching private piano and voice lessons during fall of 2018. Since then he has worked with students of varying backgrounds ranging from age three to age seventy. He interned as a music teacher at Dommerich Elementary School, as a choir teacher at Avalon Middle School, and as a choir teacher at Edgewater High School. He is well-versed in teaching one on one lessons and group classes.
