About Yuhee Kim
Yuhee Kim is a violin and piano instructor in the DMV area who has always had a passion for sharing and performing music. She is a firm believer that music is a universal language that helps students of all ages and levels express themselves in a unique and new way, and it's a timeless source of creativity and joy.
Yuhee is a native of South Korea that began taking piano lessons as early as age 3 and continued her music study throughout her childhood. She enjoyed practicing her scales and etudes, and performing what she learned with pure excitement. Her love of music flourished when she turned 16 and started taking violin lessons. She was part of the University of Michigan Youth Orchestra and spent her high school summers traveling all over the US, South Korea, Italy and the Czech Republic performing at many festivals such as the Montecito International Music Festival and the International Music Festival of the Adriatic.
She received her Bachelors in Music for violin performance at Ohio University followed by a Masters in Music and Artist's Diploma from New York University. While in New York City, Yuhee participated in Chelsea Symphony and Opera Italiana in Central Park as a section violinist. She was coached by many prestigious musicians and participated in numerous masterclasses. Yuhee is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Art degree at the University of Maryland, studying with Irina Muresan and loves gaining teaching insights from her colleagues during rehearsals.
She looks forward to sharing her knowledge with students of all ages and enjoys playing and teaching all genres of music, especially chamber pieces. Yuhee draws inspiration from her past instructors and has a passion for continuing her education, and soaking up music knowledge from her peers and students. Her goal in lessons is to help students to grow musical ideas and as a teacher, she believes having fun while playing music is essential. Yuhee is able to find a perfect balance between placing importance on technique practice and having fun with pop music by performing exciting duets during lessons. She believes music education allows students to express their feelings and emotions using the tools of imagination to help develop their own talents!
