About Taylor Lighthill

Violinist Taylor Lighthill, originally from the Washington D.C. area, is a graduate of New York University. Her previous teachers include Anton Miller, Nicolas Kendall, Zino Bogachek, Ricardo Cyncynates, Rhonda Cole, and Martha Shackford. Taylor has participated in master classes with Donald Weilerstein of the New England Conservatory of Music, Professors Curtis Price and David Strange, Principal and Head of Strings Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Emil Chudnovsky, Martin Beaver, and Leila Josefowicz. She has also worked extensively with pianist Vera Danchenko. A lover of chamber music, Taylor was the first violinist of the Cambiata String Quartet for three years, participating in master classes with the Biava String Quartet and regular coachings with Allison Bailey. She teamed up with colleagues from NYU to perform throughout New York City as the Arnica String Quartet for four years.

Taylor was also a member of the American Youth Philharmonic for six years, serving as Assistant Concertmaster for two. Taylor has attended Meadowmount School of Music during two summers studying with Sally Thomas; Encore School for Strings studying with David Cerone; and NYU's Intensive Chamber Music Workshop receiving coachings from Marion Feldman, Karen Ritscher, and Rita Porfiris. Taylor has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center, the Kreeger Museum, DAR Constitution Hall, the Alden Theater, and the Lithuanian and Bolivian Embassies prior to an international tour. Taylor is also pursuing Suzuki Teacher Training, a method concentrated on teaching young children. Currently residing in Denver, she has spent the last four years in Telluride, Colorado teaching and performing.
