About Taylor Graham
Taylor Graham is a professional Lyric Coloratura Soprano, Voice Teacher, and Piano Teacher in Denver, Colorado. Taylor began singing at the age of seven and started her career performing solos in Christmas and Easter productions at church. At fifteen, she began taking vocal lessons with Dr. Christina Lynn-Craig who ignited her love and passion for classical singing. One of her most notable performances was when she was invited to sing the National Anthem at a Rockies game in 2013. Taylor was first taught piano by her aunt and she continues to teach and play on a daily basis.
Taylor received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder and studied with Soprano Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson and Mezzo-Soprano Abigail Nims. Taylor sang the soprano solo on Laudate Dominum from Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore in the premiere choir at CU Boulder. Other roles include CloClo from The Merry Widow, Illia from Idomeneo and Mrs. Ford from Falstaff. Taylor followed her Bachelors with a Graduate Performer's Certificate in Vocal Performance from California State University, Sacramento in Spring of 2020 and studied with the esteemed Lyric Coloratura Soprano, Dr. Robin Fisher. During her grad years, she appeared as Laetitia from The Old Maid and the Thief, First Knitter from Game of Chance and Despina from Cosi fan tutte.
Taylor teaches with a holistic approach by focusing on the whole body. She is dedicated to helping her students use proper body alignment when singing and or playing the piano to ensure long term safety and success. For singers, she draws upon Yoga principles to engage the lower diaphragmatic breathing mechanism and help increase power and voice control. Taylor also incorporates appropriate hand gestures and emotional interpretation into her curriculum as a way to convey the meaning of a song. Bringing focus to the proper placement of the tongue, soft palate and larynx when it comes to singing is also an important facet of music education. Taylor can teach major and minor scales, arpeggios and chords on the piano as well as tenets of basic music reading for the more uninitiated. Taylor currently serves as the worship leader at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.
