About Sharon Ford

Sharon Ford has been playing violin for over 20 years and is still learning! She grew up in Virginia and graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory in with a degree in Music Therapy. During that time she studied violin, guitar, piano and picked up the banjo. She's been an avid student of traditional styles of music including Scottish, Irish, Old-time, Klezmer, Ragtime, Balkan and Country. Over the last ten years she picked up accordion, ukulele and the clarinet. She has performed all over Seattle and toured the country in various projects and has her own band which she writes original tunes for.

Sharon was a street performer for many years down at the Pike Place Market where she honed her skills as a soloist and singer. She has toured nationally and been featured on several albums of local Seattle songwriters and cd compilations. Although the the fiddle is her mainstay she also plays banjo, guitar, piano, washtub bass, ukulele, accordion, and viola. Currently she heads and writes songs for the Annie Ford Band and plays in other projects such as Eurodance Party USA, Nu Klezmer Army, The Puddle Stompers, The Lonely Coast and guests occasionally with the Corespondents.

She bases her lesson plans on what the student wishes to achieve and what their level allows. She believes learning music is like a joyful puzzle that you can never finish but is worth every minute.
