About Seth Drewien
Seth Drewien has learned a great deal by ear, but has also taken formal lessons and always did music in school. He got an AA from Shoreline Community College and has done a variety of trades and jobs, but always is most focused on music. Tutoring Algebra in Adult Basic Education at SCC gave him his tutor mindset, and guest music teaching in the special education class at Shorecrest High School gave him experience working with students with disabilities.
Seth fell in love with drums at around age 12 and has been playing ever since. His goal is to be a teacher who can be relied upon for both students with an affinity and those who just want to check it out. Using different ways to think about music through the lenses of songwriting, performing, improvising, and listening he guides his students through the process of finding their voice at the earliest to intermediate stages.
Seth regularly performs on drum set with a variety of groups around Seattle as well as writing and recording music with others. He's been on a cross-country tour opening for The Helio Sequence out of Portland OR, and played live at concert halls and clubs in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Phoenix. He plays a variety of styles including rock, blues, jazz, afrobreat, fusion, and pop.
