About Rachel Lamphier

Mezzo-Soprano, Rachel Lamphier, graduated with her Master's in Music from The University of Texas at Austin under the direction of William Lewis in the Spring of 2018. Some of her featured roles with the Butler Opera Center include, The Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, covering Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, the Third Lady in The Magic Flute, and many more!

Ms. Lamphier also completed her undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance at The University of Texas. There, she performed with multiple groups of many genres, including the UT Symphony, UT Jazz Band, and the UT Longhorn Singers. She debuted with the Butler Opera Center as Kenda from Bernstein's Arias and Barcarolles in 2016. As a native Houstonian, Rachel has moved back to her home town to continue performing and teaching lessons.

Ms. Lamphier has performed in many operas these past three years with the Butler Opera Center, as well as in summer training programs with the Franco-American Vocal Academy in France and Austria as L'enfant in L'enfant et les sortilèges and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and with Opera in the Ozarks as Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro and Mrs. Ott in Susannah.

Rachel began learning music from a young age, beginning with guitar at eight years old. She has spent the last seventeen years mastering the guitar from a variety of techniques. Ms. Lamphier has performed in many concerts, recitals, and contests with guitar and has taught students over the years. Her passion for music began with the guitar and has fueled her career, and she cannot wait to light the musical fire in her students as well!
