About Nerea Gourlaouen

Nerea is not only a teacher but a professional Violinist & Fiddler since a young age. With over a decade of experience teaching, Nerea has taught music to thousands of students in private and group lessons as well as in ensembles and schools. Although Nerea has taught and continues to teach Beginner to Advanced Violin, from ages 3 - 53, her specialty is "Fiddle" music. She is highly knowledgeable in Cape Breton, Scottish, Irish, traditional Breton, Celtic and World music.

Nerea has performed at numerous international venues such as the Bercy Stadium in Paris (over 17,000 spectators), Edinburgh Castle, Music Hall of Beirut-Lebanon, Canadian Embassy of Abu Dhabi, Atlantis Hotel of Dubai, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, to name a few. Her success as a soloist lead her to release her first album, "Footprints", at the age of 16. This earned her a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for the "Young Artist of the Year" Award. With rave reviews, Nerea has made numerous radio & TV appearances in several countries (and several languages). At the age of 18, armed with a diploma in Artist Management from Berklee College of Music, Nerea started teaching workshops around the world on specific styles and techniques. Nerea adapts all her lessons specifically to the students needs.

She has prepared students for Trinity and ABRSM exams, taught by ear and/or sight reading, followed diverse methods requested such as Suzuki and has prepared students for countless performances. She has worked extensively with students who have special needs such as Autism.

Open-minded and flexible, Nerea strives for her students to learn through fun, hands on activities, always leaving her lessons with smiles on their faces.
