About Mitchell Bonkowski

Mitchell began his music studies with piano lessons at 7 years old and guitar at 10. After playing in rock bands throughout high school, he changed course into classical music and college programs going on to earn Bachelors' in classical guitar performance and music history at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and a Master's of Music Performance from Florida State University. Within his degree tracks, he received training from highly regarded professors, played multiple solo recitals, performed with a variety of ensembles, as well as performing in numerous masterclasses with leading figures of classical guitar. Beyond academic coursework in performance, theory, history and composition he has continued playing a variety of pop and folk sets with various groups as a guitarist, pianist, vocalist and percussionist.

As a teacher, Mitchell started helping others through his high school and college tutoring services and has been giving lessons for students of all ages and abilities since 2007. He believes in the potential of every individual, knowing there is a unique way everyone is inspired. His enthusiasm and patience guides students to understand their strengths and weaknesses and build techniques for effective learning. The goal being to gain fulfillment from more than just playing, approaching music as a language and discovering how each instrument can be a tool for communication.
