About Mary Eakin
Having grown up in Gwinnett County, Mary developed her passion for music right here. She started learning piano at the age of 6, and quickly added voice. At 11, she began playing the cello and found her true love.
She studied under the instruction of David Scott Berry and gifted teacher David Pineda. At 16, she was able to work with the world-renowed Zbigniew Szoltysek. She has been a member of the Gwinnett Youth Symphony and the Atlanta Chamber Orchestra, and spent nearly 9 years as the principal cellist for First Baptist Snellville. In addition, she's played with Strings 4 Things, a private trio and with various other chamber orchestras and quartets.
Mary has taught privately in the Charlotte, NC and Atlanta areas for the last 13 years. Her teaching style combines a mixtures of traditional and innovative measures to ensure there continues to be a love of music and desire for continual improvement.
