About Maria de Lourdes Vidal

Maria de Lourdes Vidal started her musical studies at the age of 8 years old at the vocational school of art in Cuba, specializing in both piano and voice. During those years, she participated in competitions, winning various awards in both piano and voice and graduated the school in 1998. In 2002 Maria attended and graduated from the Conservatory of Music Jose White, Cuba.

Immediately following her formal education, Maria began to pursue performing and also teaching music around the world. As a teacher of piano and music theory, Maria has had several major successes with international students, taking them to national and international competitions, many of whom, graduated as musicians and today belong to the musical world of Cuba.

Maria de Lourdes Vidal's musical interests include Bach, Mozart, Lizt, and more contemporary Bela Bartok, Arnold Schoenberg, Stravinsky, and Gershwin. Forever grateful to her Cuban heritage she loves the music of Ernesto Lecuona, Amadeo Roldan and Alejandro Garcia Carturla.

Maria has been teaching and performing for the last 13 years and looks forward to continuing her passion for making music. Her piano and voice students pick up on this passion and themselves become part of the music tradition, one Maria hopes to pass on to many generations to come!
