About Manuel Ponce
Manuel Ponce grew up in a family of musicians and educators. He started to play piano at 7 years old in his native country, Honduras. By the age of 14, Manuel had learned to play the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and Latin percussion. His passion for music led him to attend the prestigious National Conservatory School for Music in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with the objective to become a music teacher. In 1995, the Ponce family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where Manuel began to work among the Hispanic community teaching music and working with different Hispanic churches starting choirs, bands and offering music classes to adults and children. Manuel has composed and arranged more than 20 Spanish, Christian songs that are currently among the musical libraries of many Hispanic churches around the Greater New Orleans area. In 2014, Manuel graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelors Degree in Christian Ministry with minors in Education and Counseling. The same year Manuel's family moved to Houston. Currently, Manuel is learning to embrace Houston as his own while working on a Master in Education degree at Houston Baptist University as well as volunteering to play in the band for Champion Forest Baptist Church.
