About Manal Abdel-Khalek
Manal Abdel-Khalek is a French horn, trumpet, piano and guitar instructor in Northern Virginia. A lover of classical music, she believes that music is a universal language and enjoys using it as a catalyst and mechanism to connect with others.
Hailing from New Jersey, Manal's musical endeavors first began with the trumpet in fifth grade. Upon entering high school, she started playing the French horn and fell in love with the instrument. An active participant in various ensembles throughout her schooling -- such as jazz band, marching band, wind ensemble and indoor percussion -- she never lost her love of music. Manal went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy with a Minor in Psychology from Montclair State University, and recently completed her Music Therapy internship in South Florida.
Utilizing a variety of techniques for brass instruction, including the Standard of Excellence, Manal approaches teaching with an open mind. She understands that each student's needs and goals are as different as the students themselves, and strives to find the best methodology for each individual.
In addition to the French horn and trumpet, Manal also teaches beginner piano and guitar. She picked up both of these instruments during college as accompaniment for music therapy sessions, and has continued playing both ever since. Her approach with these instruments is also diverse, and she tailors her lessons to match the needs of each student.
Manal is excited to share her passion for music, and hopes that she can inspire a similar passion with all of her students!
