About Maggie Sczekan

Maggie Sczekan teaches voice, flute, and piano, and is thrilled to have recently located back home to where she grew up in Denver, Colorado. She has been studying music for twenty-seven years and teaching music for nearly a decade.

Growing up in Denver allowed Maggie the opportunity to learn from the rich local arts community, studying at the Denver Center in the education department, which at the time included the renowned National Theatre Conservatory. As a professional actress she has performed across the state at the Denver Center, Arvada Center, Lone Tree Arts Center, and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College (to name a few).

Maggie can sing in seven languages and speaks Italian. She has sung opera in Colorado, New York City, Malta, and Italy. She loves empowering her students to sing in foreign languages, and seeing the smiles blossom when they realize they can do it! She developed an opera history and appreciation course that did well over a month at a local charter school with kindergarten through fifth graders.

Maggie has also had the unique experience of performing in character as princesses at birthday parties, the whimsy of which she loves bringing to her lessons with her younger students (and students of all ages)!

Maggie believes that music should be accessible to all and is an amazing tool for growth, empowerment, and healing. Her teaching style is honest in an uplifting way, so her students can feel proud and accomplished through even the frustrating parts of learning something new. If you're up for a challenge with a strong support system rooted in decades of experience, Maggie is the teacher for you!
