About Luis Gutierrez-Fonseca
Luis Gutierrez Fonseca began learning the violin at the age of 11 in Guadalajara, Mexico. This past May he received his Bachelor's degree in violin performance at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music where he studied with Dr. Kirsten Yon.
Luis performs year-round in the Moores Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Moores Chamber, Opera, and Ballet Orchestras. He is also currently principal second violin at the Galveston Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in masterclasses for renowned violinists Bill Preucil, Jeff Thayer, Sharman Plesner, Modigliani String Quartet and others.
Additionally, Luis has pursued further training at music festivals and workshops including ARIA Summer Academy in Massachusetts, University of North Texas Summer String Institute, Naolinco Chamber Music Festival in Mexico, Cambridge International String Academy in England, and Liberec International Violin Academy in the Czech Republic.
Luis has enjoyed teaching music throughout his time in school. Luis loves sharing his passion for music with his violin, viola, and piano students of all ages and skill levels.
