About Luba Avrashov

Luba Avrashov is a classically trained piano instructor who quotes Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Czerny and Tcaikovsky as her favorite composers. She believes that anyone can learn music, and everyone should have the opportunity to try their hand as musician.

Luba first began her piano studies when she was 6 years old, following a visit with her aunt who she observed playing Mozart's "Turkish March." Fascinated by the way her aunt's fingers flew over the piano keys while simultaneously producing beautiful sounds, Luba knew she had to learn to play that piece. Her lessons started right away, and she attended School of Music in her native Russia where she received classical training in solfeggio, piano, harmony, chorus, conducting and musical literature. Upon graduation from high school, Luba decided to pursue a teaching career, and received her Master's Degree in music and elementary education prior to moving to the United States. "Turkish March" remains her favorite piece to this day.

Luba enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities, and her specialty is young beginners aged 3-10. Her goal is to bring and help each student find and explore the interesting and intriguing world of music. She uses her background in traditional Russian training, and combines it with the knowledge and experience she has collected through the years of exploring different cultures and styles of music. Though she focuses on teaching classical pieces, she also infuses her lessons with popular songs that her students know and love.

When she is not teaching, Luba follows her passions for gardening, and healthy from-scratch restaurant-style cooking, playing piano for the family, and making jewelry.
