About Laura Turley
Laura Turley has been an active singer and performer for over twenty years and a music educator for more than a decade. As the fifth of seven very musical children, she grew up performing, competing, and honing her musical talents. As a youth she had the privilege of performing with the St. Louis Children's Choir, The Opera Theater of St. Louis and was awarded first place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, (St. Louis Division).
Her passion for music naturally lead her to pursue a degree in music, and in 2005 she graduated Magna Cum- Laude from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in Music Education (vocal emphasis). While at BYU-I she was privileged to study with international opera singers Norman Bailey and Kristine Ciesinksi, and to simultaneously develop her skills both as an opera singer and as a music educator.
Since graduating from college, Laura 's musical projects have been exciting and varied: singing professionally, running a private voice studio, directing a production of Handel's Messiah, conducting church choirs, and teaching pre-school music classes. She feels blessed to have been able to be actively involved in the music scene and still enjoy plentiful time with her husband and four beautiful daughters.
Laura believes strongly that music is both a powerful means for self-expression and a tool for growth and development. Being able to share music with others is one of her greatest joys.
