About Kent Bryant
Kent Bryant, Bass, Guitar, and Piano has been teaching and performing in Houston since 1997. His education in music was encouraged by his parents at an early age and started formal piano lessons as a youth in Japan. As the son of a military father he had the opportunity to hear many styles of music while living abroad with his family.
In his high school years Kent performed with the Indian Singers of Port Neches Grove, HS. Throughout these years he played guitar and bass guitar and was heavily involved in music. Its through these experiences Kent developed his love of performing.
He studied theory and upright bass at Lamar University before moving to Houston and upon the move he began to play professionally and has toured the United States and Europe with blues/roots artist the Mighty Orq, with whom Kent continues to record and perform with. As a gigging musician you can find Kent in various locations playing throughout the Houston area as a cover artist.
For Kent's students he believes a foundation in how to play the instrument correctly directly relates to a students success. He's always able to find a way to encourage a student and also is a big believer in positive reinforcement. "A nice smile goes a long way" says Kent in developing a good report with a student.
Kent loves all music but his favorites artist are George Benson and Herbie Hancock.
