About Julia Siegl

Julia received her Bachelor of Music in Cello from the Eastman School of Music in 2011 and will complete her Master of Music Therapy from Colorado State University in 2017. Notable teachers include Steve Doane, Alan Harris, Rajan Krishnaswami, Kathleen Kemp, David Ying, and Sally Singer.  She has appeared in masterclasses with Steven Geber, Steve Doane, Scott Kluksdahl, Nathaniel Rosen, the Emerson, Tackacs, Ying Quartets, and Avalon String Quartets, Steve Balderston, Robert Demaine, and Alan Harris. She has shared the stage with Reneé Fleming, Il Divo and the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
In addition to cello lessons, Julia enjoys teaching guitar and beginning keyboard lessons. Throughout her music therapy education, she has applied knowledge of the human body and brain to her teaching philosophy, and is committed to adapting lessons to the particular needs of her students. Her background in neuroscience provides a unique basis for her approach to teaching.

An avid chamber musician, Julia regularly collaborates with musicians in both Seattle and the front range of Colorado. Teaching through chamber music is one of her great interests in life; the joy of music is amplified tenfold when it is shared with others. Taking this approach to teaching has allowed her to cultivate rich musical relationships with her students as well as her colleagues. Having studied chamber music with the award winning Ying and Avalon Quartets, her foundation in small ensemble performance and pedagogy is the bedrock of her teaching.

As a session musician, she has appeared on several blockbuster film soundtracks from Lionsgate Studios. She has been featured as a soloist with Il Divo, The Trans Siberian Orchestra, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and most recently on Matt Rouch's album The Beautiful and the Damned.

Julia is currently the associate principal cellist of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra in Boulder, Colorado.
