About Joshua Drake
Josh Drake is a NoVA based Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, and Voice instructor who has a life-long passion for music. Starting at the age of six, Josh began taking music lessons and graduated to formal piano study at age eight! He continued playing piano throughout high school and then began teaching himself guitar and ukulele.
In 2011, Josh performed an original hymn arrangement of "Doxology" and "It is Well" at the Assemblies of God National Fine Arts Festival in Phoenix. Josh then brought his musical talents to Cedarville University in southwest Ohio where he studied classical piano, joined the jazz band, and was even in a Men's Glee Club.
Josh began teaching music students while in college, and also served as a vocalist, accompanist, and pianist in the University Jazz Band. His work as an instructor continued after graduating from Cedarville University with a Bachelors Degree in Music. Josh has taught both private lessons and in studio classes since 2012. Most recently, Josh lived on Maui for 4 years working in worship ministry, teaching, and as a manager for Mele Ukulele.
Josh enjoys teaching students of all ages in the areas of Piano, Guitar, Ukulele and Voice! He is well versed in many music styles and teaches a wide range of classical to popular music. Josh makes sure to tailor instruction to meet specific students' needs and loves being able to see the incredible progress made on their chosen instrument! As an instructor with Lessons In Your Home, Josh finds great joy in investing in music education for and helping his students discover a new means of expression and creativity.
