About Jose Aponte

Jose Aponte started playing the violin at the age of 8. He studied in the Music School at Universidad Veracruzana where he received his undergraduate degree. During his time as an undergrad he performed in several chamber ensembles and orchestras.

José Aponte was a violinist in Orquesta Juvenil del Estado de Veracruz, and he also played with Orquesta Filarmónica de Boca del Rio under the baton of Jorge Mester. He has participated in music festivals such as San Miguel de Allende Music Festival, Zacatecas 2013 Music Festival, Miami Summer Music Festival, Academia Orquestal Teatro del Lago, Chile; and Pierre Monteux School in Maine.

He holds a Masters degree in violin performance from Colorado State University where he was a member of the Concorda String Quartet for two years. Jose is currently pursuing an additional degree in String Pedagogy at University of Houston where he is part of the violin studio of Dr. Kirsten Yon. Aponte is also a member of the Tomatz String Quartet at Moores School of Music. He enjoys teaching violin and encouraging his students to love music.
