About Jahsmor Gaskins

Where words fail, music speaks. Through educating, composing, and performing, Jahsmor communicates this experience to his audience.

Born into the sounds of Puerto Rico's lively musical heritage and diversity, it was this environment that would allow the art of music to permeate through all areas of his life. Initiating formal musical instruction with years of lessons on the piano, it would not be until he was introduced his first guitar that he would know he had found his calling. After graduating from high school, he would pursue his collegiate guitar studies with Chris Rollins at Lansing Community College, and would later be awarded a scholarship to attend the Hartt Conservatory and study classical guitar under Christopher Ladd and Richard Provost.

Jahsmor's diverse set of musical influences and experiences have enabled him to teach across a variety of musical styles and idioms. His passion and patience for teaching are key in helping his students achieve their dreams and aspirations, while simultaneously encouraging them to foster their own musicality and voice. From rock to jazz, blues to classical, he continues to enrich lives by connecting people with the arts, and helping them experience the vast canvas and colors that music has to offer.
