About Dylan Rye

Dylan Rye is a brass specialist and piano instructor with Lessons In Your Home and has been an active teacher since 2012. He has worked with both sectionals in school ensembles and private students in his teaching, and he is versed in trumpet (primary instrument), trombone, tuba, euphonium, and french horn.

Dylan received his Bachelor's Degree in trumpet performance in 2013 from James Madison University. During his time at JMU, he had the opportunity to student teach with middle school students and provide instruction in local band camps. He also honed his performance skills in the brass area through intensive study of trumpet repertoire.

Throughout the time in receiving his degree from JMU, Dylan also studied piano, music theory, and conducting. As a piano teacher, he directs his students' study through a traditional methodology that can lead to a variety of styles. In his brass instruction, his intensive course work with all instruments in this family allows him to work with students of varied ages and levels to take their playing to the next level -- whether in the realm of solo work or small to large ensembles.

In lessons with private students, Dylan reaches each student as an individual and customizes his methodology to meet their needs. This can include anything from the basics of understanding music notation with complete beginners, developing a strong sound, or attaining goals, like making first chair in a school ensemble. Whatever the goal, Dylan approaches each student with a unique curriculum and inspires them to be the best musician they can be!
