About David Bang

David has been playing violin since he was 6 years old. He minored in music education and completed music coursework in music theory and individual applied violin studies. He has performed in youth orchestras, solo competitions, recitals, weddings, and church services throughout the northern Virginia and Washington DC metro area. He is currently a violin member of the first violin section of the Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra and the Gwinnett Chamber Orchestra with regular performances throughout the year with various guest conductors and guest soloists. He also plays the classical piano and performed in various piano recitals throughout the Atlanta metro area. During his undergraduate training in music education, he was a violin member of the first violin section for the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra in Blacksburg Virginia.

He teaching philosophy for both violin and piano students of various ages and playing experience revolves around the concept of mind, body and soul in which the art of making music requires the whole being fully involved with the music in order to communicate and express the story behind the music regardless of musical style. He envisions each lesson with students to be a musical journey that requires not only a lot of thinking but especially a lot of feeling as well. His former violin teacher and international concert violinist Daniel Heifetz trained David to speak the very soul of music as the most important process of making music while equally valuing the music theory behind the music. So David envisions each lesson to be about finding the soul of music without losing one's self in the process. Students must learn to find themselves in the soul searching process of connecting with music to be one with it.
