About Danny Garcia
Seeking to encourage self-expression through music, Danny has been a guitarist for over 15 years. An El Paso, Texas native, he graduated from El Paso Community College in 2014 with his AA in Music Performance for Classical Guitar, where he was first chair of the EPCC Classical Guitar Ensemble. Currently, Danny is on the Dean's List, finishing his BA in Music Therapy and Psychology at Seattle Pacific University with focus on Jazz Guitar and Improvisational methods under the supervision of Dr. Carlene Brown, a UW graduate, Music Therapist, and Psychomusicologist. Danny has studied a wide spectrum of guitar repertoire ranging from classical, spanish, flamenco, jazz, and gypsy jazz, to more contemporary styles such as all styles of rock, progressive rock, metal, and popular music. Though guitar is his primary instrument, he is also proficient in piano, bass guitar, and drum set.
Throughout his professional career, Danny has toured, recorded and performed with many musical projects from Texas, Seattle and all over the U.S. Currently, he performs and records with two alternative rock bands in the Seattle area, as well as his solo singer-songwriter project. In his academic career as a student music therapist, Danny has served populations including children with disabilities, children with autism spectrum disorder, children with trauma, adults with posttraumatic stress disorder, adults with substance abuse and older adults with dementia and alzheimer's providing music therapy services and lessons alike. Danny also has years of experience in use of music technology, live sound, audio engineering, recording, composition, music retail and is also Spanish proficient.
Encouraging, inspiring, motivating and endowing a student with the skills and tools necessary for musical self-expression, self-discipline, patience, and life skills is Danny's goal through lessons.
