About Christopher Evans
Christopher Evans has always dedicated his life to music at an early age picking up the Tenor Trombone in middle school. In his early musical life, Christopher performed and marched with the Sherman High School Marching band under head band director Ryan Jenkins. assistant director Flint Weed, percussion director James Smith, and color guard instructor Ana Hinojosa. Christopher marched with the Sherman High School marching band while the band was invited to the state marching band competition in San Antonio Texas in the year 2011 with reaching state finals as top 10 bands in Texas and 2013. Besides marching band, Christopher also performed for the high school Jazz Band under Flint Weed while performing for musical jazz festivals, concerts, and master classes on tenor trombone. Christopher was also in the top varsity concert band, the Wind Ensemble at Sherman High School. Christopher also took part of some chamber ensemble groups and solos from state solo and ensemble.
After High School, Christopher received his Associates degree of Liberal Arts in Music from Grayson College in Trombone. Christopher performed for the College concert band while taking music theory courses under Dr. David Tecero, and Dr. Andy Wright, the Austin College Wind Symphony while also taking private trombone lessons under Bob Archer, and the Grayson College Viking Choir under Courtney Austin as a bass singer. Although studying and performing for trombone, Christopher also picked up the piano and began taking private piano lessons under Tanya Bays and Min Kyung Kim for the remaining of the school years performing for piano recitals. Christopher was also part of the Grayson College Music Club as a historian and secretary. The club attended many operas, hosted concerts for guests musicians, performed for campus departments for in need of musicians, music festivals and conventions. The club also hosted Chipotle fundraisers and sold clothing to raise money for the club as money for attending concerts, new instruments, and other expenses.
After Grayson College, Christopher received his Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Music for trombone at Texas Womans University in Denton, Texas. Christopher performed for the TWU University Band and Jazz Band under Dr. Carter Biggers, and Trombone studio under Dr. Michelle Flowers. The trombone studio performed all trombone choir music, chamber groups and solos for each member. Christopher performed at TMEA (Texas Music Education Association) in San Antonio Texas with the Trombone as it was invited to perform in April 2019.
Outside of Christopher's music life and personal life he plays for his church praise and worship band at Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, Texas under pastor's Raymond England and Gwen England. Christopher also enjoys hiking at local trails, weight lifting, and attend bible study groups at his local church on his free time.
