About Christa Phillipson
Christa is known as a passionate, caring, and fun voice and piano teacher in Seattle who builds strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect with students and their families, while fostering a strong sense of musical excellence, and love for music in her students.
Christa grew up in Austria, where she received most of her training in classical piano, music education, voice and conducting. She started to receive formal music training at the age of 4 in Orff early childhood music classes at the Johann Josef Fux conservatory in Graz Austria, and then continued to learn recorder for five years. She attended the Musikgymnasium Viktring (Middle and High school dedicating 10+ hours per week to extensive music training) and finally got to fulfill her early childhood dream of learning to play the piano.
Christa started teaching piano lessons and recorder at age 15 as a student teacher, conducted a youth choir for 6 years starting at 16, decided to major in Music education and studied piano with Christiane Perai (Austrian Art Ensemble). In 2002, she received her Master of Arts in Music Education from the Music University Graz, Austria, Diploma in Group Voice training and Accompaniment from the Johann Josef Fux Conservatory, Graz, in 2003, while conducting a community choir.
Apparently destined to build a music career in Austria, she met her - now -husband and moved to the Seattle area in 2004, where taught Choir and Music at Voyager Middle School in the Mukilteo School district, from 2004-2010,
Yearning for individualized teaching, she founded her music studio "Austrian Classics" in 2007 and has been teaching piano and voice exclusively since 2010. Christa most recently founded the Rainier Beach Children's Choir.
