About Chris Brown

Chris is a guitar, banjo, ukulele, piano, voice and mandolin instructor who has been playing music for over 13 years. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and continued performing all over the United States, from Asheville, NC to Seattle, WA! Music has brought an immense amount of joy to Chris and he is thrilled to share that joy with students of all ages and experience levels!

After attending Penn State University, he decided to further pursue his curiosity of guitar and singing. Three years, and several guitar teachers later he was accepted into music school at Berklee College of Music! At Berklee, Chris took classes in music theory, music education, guitar performance, as well as arranging, composing, and music production. While he has experience playing with several bands, these days he mostly performs, and tours as a solo musician. Chris has been a part of performances involving artists like Elvis Costello, Joan Jett, Bill Evans, Mike and Leni Stearns, and others. He's also played private concerts for companies like Patagonia and Fjall Raven.

Chris is a firm believer that the most important aspect of learning music is to have fun while doing so! He takes the time to understand each individual students' goals and makes sure that they enjoy each step along the way. He believes that music education is important because it helps students tap into their own unique sense of creativity, identity, and it allows them a beautiful way to express emotion. Chris is so excited to share his passion, energy, and love of music with all his LIYH students!
