About Catherine Trausch

Catherine Trausch is a pianist and organist from Waxahachie, Texas. She was born into a musical family and began playing piano in 2007. Catherine participated in many Texas Music Teachers Association events over the next 11 years including receiving medals on state music theory and history exams. She also participated in the annual auditions as a National Member of the American College of Musicians/National Guild of Piano Students for 11 years. Catherine began studying organ in 2014 and is now continuing her studies towards a degree in organ performance at the University of North Texas with Dr. Jesse Eschbach.

During her time at UNT Catherine has performed with the Concert Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Women's Chorus working with directors Clay Couturiaux, Daniel Cook, and Charlotte Botha. She has also continued her piano studies through applied lessons and has accompanied several vocalists and instrumentalists. Catherine was also awarded the student maintenance assistant position for the organ department, which has allowed her to learn about the building and repair process of the instruments. She has professional affiliations with the American Guild of Organists, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and served on the youth advisory panel for the Organ Historical Society from 2019-20.

Alongside teaching, Catherine has also been an active church musician since 2012. She has accompanied adult and children's choirs, coordinated music for weddings and funerals, and collaborated with soloists and chamber groups. As director of music and organist for two years at Immaculate Conception Church in Grand Prairie she was in charge of all music for Sundays and bilingual liturgies. Catherine is currently organist at First Presbyterian Church in Denton working alongside music director Beverly Hoch.
