About Casey Clougherty

While Casey Higgins was still in high school, three of his songs were featured on National Public Radio and he was able to play at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. Casey next went to school at Appalachian State University and then graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music headlining the graduation concert! His grad school was moving around Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, Nashville, New York and Chicago as a hired guitarist, and teaching in music stores. He played in a wide range of styles and roles (engineer, promoter, musical director, band leader, etc) and well over 400 gigs!

Casey took a break last year to finish two books he had bouncing around in his head and hard drive and self published them last year. The books complement lessons so our time is spent showing you how to play and playing together, not you looking at him, while he draws a chord. The books have tablature (tabs) with rhythm, chord/scale diagrams and a written description of each topic like an encyclopedia. They also show you how music fits together and give you a solid foundation to build on and music ideas you can use.

His teaching style is all about building on what you already know and pointing out what you're doing right. Casey is a very laid-back person and loves to hear and learn new music. He strives to incorporate the music you want to learn as much as possible. Above all else, he teaches you how to practice so that you get the most out of your guitar when you're not in your lesson.
