About Cali Alexander

Cali Alexander started playing flute at the age of twelve in a small school band, and soon after began performing in youth orchestra by fifteen. She began teaching lessons while in high school to other students and has regularly taught since then for a total of fourteen years. She played alto saxophone in her high school jazz band, double bass in a community orchestra, has played piano over the years, and has recently started composing ambient dance electronic music with the implementation of live instruments.
She holds both a Bachelor and Master's degrees in Flute Performance from the University of Arkansas, receiving a 4.0 in her MM degree work. She has successfully taken pedagogy courses in all the basic band and orchestra instruments, along with piano courses and choir which allows her to teach a variety of instruments. Cali has been noted as a "real player" and a "natural musician."
Cali has performed a variety of styles - classical, Latin, Asian, Jazz, and contemporary. Besides classical flute, Cali studies the honkyoku repertoire of shakuhachi (the Japanese bamboo flute of Zen) and other world flutes.
Her teaching style is heavily influenced by orchestra and academics, along with a variety of methods, arts, and instructors she has worked with over the years. However, hard-work, confidence, and consistency is the underlying foundation in building successful musical goals. She currently teaches piano, flute and all woodwinds, and violin in the Denver area.
