About Augusto Di Catarina
Jazz vocal tenor and guitarist, Augusto Di Catarina graduated from Florida International University in the spring of 2019, earning a B.A. in Music Business with Jazz Voice as his primary instrument. Di Catarina studied vocals under Dr. Lisanne Lyons and has performed in many student ensembles at his university, where in January of 2019, he and his ensemble were invited to the 75th annual Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) convention in Tampa, FL as the first ever Jazz Vocal Group to perform in this event.
Augusto is a multi-instrumentalist who performs professionally with either guitar, voice or bass throughout the South Florida area. In September of 2018, he found himself touring across the United States, opening each night with his personal project for Spanish rock group, Hinds and playing in thirteen different cities, including Santa Barbara, Phoenix, Tucson, Austin, Dallas and Baton Rouge.
As a teacher, he builds a strong background in the theory of music, but will also guarantee the development of an extensive repertoire best suited for each and every one of his students. He also encourages the participation in performance opportunities like playing in small groups and even in live recitals, and can work with his students to develop the necessary skills to do so. But most importantly, he will make sure the learning environment is as fun and encouraging as it can be with all of his students.
