About Andrew Pendergrast
Andrew Pendergrast is a multi-instrumentalist music educator and composer from Atlanta, GA. He relocated to the D.C. area in 2009 and has performed in many different settings, including classical ensembles, jazz groups, choirs, rock bands, musical theater companies, and solo recitals.
Andrew has a B.A. in music from the George Washington University, and he has also studied at Berklee College of Music, Brevard Music Center, and Trinity College Dublin. He has been the musical director of the Generic Theater company, and he is the recipient of an award for his composition in the Don B. Murphy One Act Festival.
In his approach to music education, Andrew places high value on creativity and reinforcing the fundamentals of note reading and technique, in addition to making practice and the routine of lessons fun and inspiring. The instruments/areas he teaches include guitar, piano, voice, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, music theory, and composition. Through his vast and varied educational experience, he has honed a unique approach in delivering instruction that speaks to the individual--no matter what age or level.
