About Andrew Coban
Andrew strives to teach individuals how to express themselves through music in a relaxed, creative, and personalized environment. His teaching reflects a well-rounded approach in learning songs, music theory, reading, composing, and improvised creativity- all with the intention of inspiring happiness and satisfaction. Andrew also focuses on how to play complimentary with other musicians and styles, an often overlooked skill for guitar students. He is always excited for the opportunity to help develop a passion for music and creativity in his students- no matter what age, skill level, or musical style!
Andrew was first inspired to pick up the guitar at age 16 and continues to perform with a variety of instruments such as drums, bass, piano/keyboard, and ukulele. He graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music in 2008 with experience, a degree, and a thirst for a career in music. Since then, he has performed as a band member and/or a solo artist in bars, charity events, clubs, private parties, churches, restaurants, and weddings all around Georgia and while on tour in different parts of the country. Currently he is recording and producing his first long awaited indie album -which is a convoluted platter of rock, synth pop, r&b, bossa nova, flamenco, jazz, and electronic folk influences.
Andrew is inspired by everything. From classical guitar artists like Tarrega and Sor- to artists like The Beatles, Django Reinhardt, Carole King, Sam Cooke - to Led Zepplin, Boston, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, The Police- and in more current musical era: The Black Keys, Butch Walker, Sufjan Stevens, Lord Huron, Mac DeMarco- and the list goes on and on... He says "music is the most powerful thing. It [music] is limitless, and to be able to share it with others is an incredibly fulfilling gift".
