About Adam Midferd
Adam Midferd is a piano teacher, and a musician in Seattle, Washington. He started taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and began his music career by playing bass and piano with the University High School Jazz Band, in Los Angeles, California. Adam teaches all levels of piano and vocals, and beginner level bass guitar. He enjoys and teaches all types of music from pop to jazz, to classical.
After college, Adam contracted with several talent agencies and began playing and singing full-time professionally with touring bands in California and Arizona, as well as multiple churches (piano and choir). He also contracted with agencies in Hawaii to play solo piano in hotels such as Sheraton, Hilton and Hyatt. For 15 years, his only source of income was from music! He feels that music is a great way for students to stay busy and stay away from undesirable activities that others get involved with!
In his spare time, Adam teaches math, computer science and piano, and currently works in the technology field. He feels that students should start with ear training (playing by ear) as well as reading. Once the student has developed a solid desire in training, then the concentration should be more on classical training, unless the desire is jazz or pop.
