Our son, currently a high school sophomore, has been taking guitar lessons through Lessons in Your Home for about 4 years now. The convenience of having lessons at home is a huge draw, but the reason we continue with them is because of the quality of the teachers. We've had two different teachers, both college students from KSU. The first graduated, got a job as a full time band director, and moved away. We are still taking lessons with Patrick Arthur, our second teacher, and will be very sad if he moves away after graduation.Lessons in Your Home works to match you with a teacher. One who is geared toward your interests and abilities. Our son has been well matched. Patrick acts as a mentor as well as a teacher. He has done and is doing what my son is doing and hopes to do. For example, he has been through the All State auditions and participated in All State. My husband and I are not musicians, so we find great value in being able to talk to someone who has "been there and done that."You can't help but form a bit of relationship with someone that comes into your home every week for a couple years. Patrick is very easy to communicate with. Our son is active in other school programs and when a conflict arises, Patrick has been very flexible with rescheduling. I can't say enough about Patrick, he really is an awesome teacher and mentor, but I can also say that I have every confidence that if we do need a new teacher, that teacher will be every bit as wonderful in their own way.I know that teachers can only do so much, so I also credit my son's dedication, but through his lessons our son has made tremendous progress. Lessons have been a great combination of guidance and fulfilling interests. Patrick can keep it fun too; every Christmas he works on sight reading skills with Christmas tunes. It's one of my favorite lessons to hear! And that is the convenience with Lessons in Your home. You don't have to worry about going somewhere, and as a parent, you don't lose your own time waiting on your child's lesson or figuring out how to make use of that time somehow, and it is very easy to hear your child's progress! I highly recommend Lessons in Your Home.read more

I'm a piano tuner and tune around 18-25 pianos weekly. Many of my customers are students of Lessons In Your Home. It's amazing how often I hear about how wonderful their teachers are. I did a tuning for one of my regulars this morning. Although I have known him for several years, he only in the last 6 months started taking lessons again. He is a changed person! He couldn't stop complimenting his teacher! He was eager to show me all the improvements he has made in his technique and expressed the new found joy his teacher has shared with him. I also notice how the kids seem to be sticking with it. The LIYH music folders on their pianos stay the same but year after year the books and music keep getting more challenging and the "post tuning concerts" more enjoyable.
