About Marissa Green

Marissa Green has had a strong passion and talent for music since the age of 5. Her musicality was also acknowledged at this age when she began piano lessons in Orlando, Florida. She has had a wide range and spectrum of music teachers, but as a student of Mrs. Nancy Shackelford during her teen years, she received three consecutive years of superior ratings from the National Guild of Piano Teachers/American College of Musicians.Throughout the ages of 5-15, her musical training also included vocal lessons. She was accompanying her high school musicals, performing in church, and participating in small gigs any chance that she could.

At Stetson University, Marissa was a scholarship student of the internationally renowned pianist Michael Rickman. Recognized for her artistic achievements, she was a William E. Duckwitz Talent Scholar and a Stetson Piano Scholar. As a soloist, she has performed on and off the Stetson campus and for special events throughout Central Florida. She has also performed in masterclasses including one with the late distinguished concert pianist Richard Cass, and Dr. Kevin Orr of University of Florida. Her repertoire includes works by Schumann, Schubert, Shostakovich, Debussy, Beethoven, Bach, Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Chopin.

As a collaborative artist, Marissa has appeared in recitals with fellow vocalists, various instrumentalists, and served as accompanist for Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church in Port Orange, Florida. She was a member of the prominent Stetson Chorale, and performed with them at the March 2010 Southern Division American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) convention in Memphis, Tennessee. She even had the opportunity to accompany her own choir at one of their year end Stetson University performances. She has experience with acting, vocal coaching, singing broadway music, and musical theater per her performance in the Stetson University hosted musical "Zanna Don't!" in 2009. In May 2010, she received her Bachelor of Music and Business Administration degree from Stetson University.

Since her graduation, she has been offering her services to students of all ages by traveling to their homes for lessons. She helps students realize their potential and discover a love and space for music in their hearts while maintaining professionalism. Her goal is to learn about her students, their expectations and goals, strengths and weaknesses, and help them develop a plan to get them where they need to be. She ensures all of her students have proper training. Her lessons are always fun, engaging, and special for children so they can certainly develop a need for music in their daily lives.
