About Marina Pahountis

Marina has been playing the piano since the age of 10. She was a late bloomer in starting and originally learned by ear (without the knowledge of her initial teacher). Having to start from scratch at the age of 12, Marina takes great pride in music theory and the foundations of learning the piano.

At the age of 12, Marina began studying under Natalie Phillips, a well-known performer and University professor, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also studied the violin under Natalie's husband, Eugene, who was the first chair violinist in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Marina was adulated for her phrasing, musicality, passion, and individuality! She was an accompanist for several Pittsburgh Youth Symphony members, participated in Carnegie Mellon's Young Artist Competitions, performed for 7 years as a Steinway Society Young Artist, and attended the IU Jacob's School of Music prestigious summer program. She later went on to attend the Jacob's School of Music.

Today, Marina has kept her love for music going by teaching and performing on a smaller scale at weddings, cocktail hours, holiday events, and studio recording sessions. She loves to encourage each student's personality and uniqueness in his/her playing and finds great reward in nurturing talent.
