About Lauren Hemmings

Lauren Hemmings, soprano, has been teaching and sharing her love of music in Georgia for over thirteen years. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she began her music education studying piano and voice at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Mississauga, Ontario. After a move to the USA in 1996, she began studying voice under Leslie Douglas Thompson and singing in superior choirs under the direction of prominent choral director, Emily Floyd. In 2001 she attended Shorter College studying music education and vocal performance. There, she had the privilege of studying voice with Dr. Brian Horne and piano with William Knight. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a choral focus at the University of Georgia. At UGA she studied voice under Dr. Stephanie Tingler and participated in the UGA Opera Ensemble. A life long learner, she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Kennesaw State University in 2014.

For the last thirteen years, she has been teaching singers, pianists, and budding Broadway superstars in the Cobb County School System. As the former director of countless musicals and other productions, she loves to share her passion for performance of all genres. She has great experience and expertise in preparing students for county and state competitions, All-State auditions, and other auditions. Lauren's success as a teacher lies in the fact that she tailors lessons to the needs of the individual student to help them achieve high musical growth while enjoying the process.
