About Jennifer Jeon

Born and raised in Washington, Jennifer Jeon began her musical journey at the tender age of four. She started with piano lessons from Mrs. Kim, who resides in Bellevue, and continued lessons with her until early high school. During this time, she participated in recitals, festivals, and competitions. When Jennifer became nine years old, she began studying violin with Jan Coleman and chose to focus more heavily on violin while continuing her piano studies. Jennifer studied with Jan until the eighth grade and then advanced with Simon James (also in the Coleman Studio) throughout her high school years. During her time with the Coleman Studio, Jennifer attended music festivals/ summer camps in Seattle, Utah, and New York in order to study with working professionals that also taught in universities. These programs trained their students in solo repertoire, chamber music, and chamber orchestra. Jennifer spent 2 summers during her sophomore and junior year in high school at Meadowmount; Meadowmount is known for its rigorous training and practice regimen (7 weeks long) and there she studied with Professor Ribeiro who teaches at Northwestern University.

Jennifer chose to attend Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland from 2016-2020 in order to further her violin studies with Professor Tseng. Violin training intensified during her time at Peabody as she prepared for two recitals (junior senior year), chamber group concerts (sophomore and junior year), and orchestra concerts (all four years). On top of that, Professor Tseng's studio ritually met weekly for studio class and mini repertoire class in order to practice playing in front of others and keep studio expectations at an all time high. Along with her violin studies, Jennifer took two years of Piano, freshman and sophomore year, with Dr. Yoo during her time at Peabody. Despite the pandemic happening in Jennifer's last semester, Johns Hopkins was a wonderful experience that nurtured various fields in Jennifer's musical studies- theory, music history, art history, foreign languages (along with her instrumental classes).

Jennifer has trained her string students in both orchestra seating auditions and solo competitions. Many of her students have participated in SYSO orchestra and BYSO (one student as concertmaster). In the past, she has trained her high schooler students to win/place in concerto competitions for violin and viola.
