About Delia Ottomanelli

Delia Ottomanelli is a Denver-based vocalist, pianist, and singer-songwriter. For over ten years, she has been teaching private voice, piano, songwriting, and music theory to students of all ages, genders, skill levels, and musical backgrounds. Miss Ottomanelli studied classical voice and music technology at both Seton Hall University and University of Colorado Boulder, and subsequently attended University of Colorado Denver's Singer-Songwriter Bachelor of Science program.

Delia grew up in Madison, New Jersey, where she began taking piano lessons at the age of 3. Throughout grade school, she was very active in musical theater, marching band, and choir. She also got a jump start on college credits through Madison High School's AP Music Theory program. She was the Auxilliary Percussion Captain of the Madison Marching Dodgers, and played an essential (some might say....instrumental) role in the band's success- they were awarded Best Auxilliary Percussion in the state of New Jersey for two consecutive years.

By age of 16, Delia was studying classical voice, opera, and songwriting at The Original Music School in Morristown NJ. Her vocal instructor- lovingly referred to as her "vocal mama"- was the immensely talented coloratura soprano Denise Silecchia. Anthony Vitale, the school's founder, also quickly became one of Delia's most respected mentors and friends. Under Vitale's thoughtful guidance, Delia learned everything from writing and recording her own original music, putting together her first band, and performing at a variety of local concerts and festivals. Most importantly, Silecchia and Vitale gave her the essential push she needed to start doing her favorite thing in the world: teaching music. She began teaching at the age of 18, and has had a deep respect, appreciation, and passion for it ever since.

When teaching, Delia embodies her three most important values: Make it fun, make it effective, and make it memorable. She doesn't believe in using shortcuts or training wheels to get cookie-cutter results as quickly as possible; Rather, she spends the time and effort required to tune in to each of her students on an individual level. She identifies each of her student's interests and passions, and uses her wide range of knowledge and experience to relate with them and cultivate their skills and talents. This is how she has guided countless students along in their journeys to become original, creative musicians who truly love and enjoy their craft!
