About Brandon Swann
Born and raised in the DMV, Brandon is an active performer and educator specializing in Drums and Percussion. He is very passionate about sharing his knowledge of drums and "the stage" with the next generation of musicians.
Brandon's journey started in his school when he joined his first ensemble. After his high school band experience, he went on to take lessons from local artists. He now performs with various bands in the area at local venues, restaurants, and annual festivals across the DMV.
As an active performer, Brandon is driven by a love of collaboration and performing. Because he is an educator at heart, he loves having the opportunity to cultivate a student's interests and open a new world of musicality to his students. Whether the goal is playing favorite pop songs, honing technical skills, or finding an outlet for creativity, drumming provides a platform to experience music on a different level.
Brandon is well versed in all musical genres, including funk, reggae, rock n roll, hip hop, and of course DC's own Go-Go. He works with students of all ages and levels -- from young beginners through adults. His lessons include an emphasis on locking into the beat, timing, and song structure. He has found that focusing in on these specific areas helps to prepare his students for performing with discipline and finding their own musical voice. He is excited to see his students grow in their musicianship and open new opportunities as a result. Brandon's primary goal is to make learning fun for his students and find what inspires them.
