About Amanda Smolek

Soprano Amanda Smolek is an emerging professional vocalist as well as a private voice and piano instructor. Her repertoire is versatile ranging from opera, classical song recital, church music to musical theater and jazz. She has joined the esteemed Atlanta Opera Chorus for the 2011-2012 season at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. She is also a staff section leader and soloist at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. You may see her around the Atlanta area touring with pianist Daniel Solberg in a newly formed jazz duo.

Ms. Smolek has taught students ranging from ages 4-63 at a variety of different experience levels. Her fun and engaging teaching style emphasizes classical technique, strong musicianship, and audition performance preparation. Some of her student's accomplishments include competition wins, All-State Chorus, leading musical theater roles, and many have received scholarships to further their education in music.

Amanda received the Elmhurst College of Music scholarship to pursue her Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Assistantship in Research while obtaining her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia State University. Recent credits include performing the leading role of Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the La Musica Lirica festival in Novafeltria, Italy where she received training in the Italian language. She also was honored to perform the leading role of Terentia in Dan Shore's The Beautiful Bridegroom which was premiered for the National Opera Association of America at their annual convention in 2010.
